leader Vikki Subba from Tshibo-Tashiding who was arrested on Friday
evening for on the charge of burning a car on August 27, was today
presented before the Kalimpong ACJM court. Subba, the GJM president of
No. 33 constituency, was denied bail on account of several non-bailable
charges slapped against him by the Kalimpong police.
He is suspected to have engaged in
arson, especially involving a Nano car with registration number WB 74 W
6285, which was on its way to Siliguri from Pedong. According to the car
owner, a group of masked men had forced the passengers out and burned
down the car. The police have booked Subba under Sections
147/148/149/435/427 of the IPC and Section 25 (1) A/ 27 of the Arms Act.
Four other suspects in the case are already behind bars.
