KALIMPONG

The
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha continues to lose its support base in the rural
areas of Kalimpong. Fifteen households from Kage Gram Panchayat area
today are reported to have quit the party to join the Trinamool
Congress.
Hill TMC student leader CP Kathiwada
said GJM Kage unit founding president Chatur Singh Chettri and executive
member Jyanmani Chettri embraced the TMC flag along with 13 families of
the village.
Chattra Parishad leader CP Kathiwada,
Kage unit coordinator Sonam Bhutia, Hirakumari Chettri and others
welcomed the new supporters by handing them party flags. Kathiwada said
people are accepting the TMC as the alternative since the GJM has made a
mockery of the people’s aspiration on the pretext of agitating for
statehood. He said the dictatorial policies of the GJM are prompting
people to join the TMC.
Kathiwada further said the TMC is
receiving proposals from GJM supporters from several areas of Kalimpong
expressing their willingness to join the Trinamool.
