Senior journalist Tongam Rina has been selected for the Freedom and Future of the Media

Senior journalist of Arunachal Pradesh Tongam Rina has been selected for the prestigious - Prize for the Freedom and Future of the Media - 2013 instituted by Media Foundation.

Earlier, Tongam Rina, Associate Editor of the daily, was honoured with the Laadli Media Award 2011-12 for Gender Sensitivity in November last year at Kolkata. Tongam Rina was critically injured in an assassination attempt on July 15 last year. Meanwhile, members of Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) in a meeting here reviewed Tongam Rina shooting case in view of the recent development. The two organizations, who have been spearheading the fight to seek justice for Tongam, welcomed the news of police filing charge sheet against three alleged accused. source:
