Gangtok
17 Aug 2013
A group of teachers engaged as the in-charge of various schools here today met Human Resource Development Minister NK Pradhan and Secretary Thomas Chandy. The group comprised mostly of senior teachers who have been discharging the duty of headmasters since the past 15 years.
Ten teachers or so had been appointed as in-charge and have been functioning as full-fledged headmasters. They have been urging the HRD to formally appoint them as full-fledged headmasters, but the department has not considered the matter in earnest.
The teachers requested the minister and secretary not to appoint new headmasters in the schools they are working in as the department has recently started the task of appointing new headmasters. Pradhan and Chandy gave a patient hearing to their grievances and have assured to look into the matter.
