The
Barnamala Charitable Trust of Kalimpong, which has been making valuable
contributions to Nepali culture, has decided to support the agitation
for Gorkhaland through music. According to Debasish Mothay, the founder
of the trust, they released their first audio-visual album in 2010 on
the Nepali alphabet in an effort to educate people further about Nepali
culture.
Addressing the press today, he said the
organisation would support the demand for separate statehood by
spreading its awareness across the country through music.
“We released our first audio-visual
album in 2010 and have been working towards spreading awareness of our
culture to other people through social networking sites such as
Facebook. We will soon hold Barnamala programmes in Assam, Dehradun and
other metropolitan cities,” said Mothay.
