Three local poetesses were today
honoured with the Kamala Aanshu Smriti Sahitya Puraskar and Sahitya
Samman by the Littérateur Kamala Aanshu Memorial Trust here at the
Nepali Sahitya Parishad Bhawan.
Sudha M. Rai from Gangtok received the
Littérateur Kamala Aanshu Memorial Literary award comprising a cash
award, citation, shawl and khadas. Meanwhile, Apsara Dahal from Bermoik,
West Sikkim and Meena Subba from Gangtok were felicitated with the
Littérateur Kamala Aanshu Memorial Literary honour. They also received
citations, shawls and gifts.
Their names were selected by a seven-member selection committee chaired by 89-year-old senior journalist and littérateur CD Rai.
An English monograph titled ‘Makers of
Indian literature-Kamala Aanshu’ written by the littérateur’s
writer-journalist husband Bijay Bantawa was also released during the
occasion.
Bantawa, who is also the president of
the trust, spoke a few words in memory of his late wife who passed away
on March 11, 2006 at the age of 50.
“Kamla Anshu has been the inspiration
for many aspiring writers and social workers,” said Bantawa. Kamala
Anshu has left behind more than 1,000 literary works to her credit.
